Turkish Ziraat Bank Bosnia dd ( TZBB ) is a subsidiary of largest Turkish public sector bank TC Ziraat Bank as a locally incorporated entity in Bosnia Herzegovina established in 1997.
TZBB was the first foreign bank to invest in Bosnia and today the premier bank in Bosnia in terms business volume and profitability. It is serving local business, consumers and foreign personnel stationed in Bosnia.
TZBB is a principal member of both VISA and MASTERCARD as an issuer and acquirer. It is providing POS and ATM services as well all credit and debit products with signature and PIN verification since 1999.
It is the first and still the only issuer and acquirer of both card systems for complete range of products and services.

Verisoft was commissioned solve a tough case of bringing international online card issuance and acceptance in Bosnia where no local interface and connectivity possible.
Therefore, Verisoft designed a cross border data link over public X25 network of Bosnia called BiHPAK to Turkish X25 network TURPAK over international X25 packet switching networks.
This system implementing IP over X25 protocol connected to Ziraat Banks card center in Istanbul Turkey about 4000 kilometers away.
At this point Verisoft switched the system to VISA VAP and MASTERCARD EM for global card issuing and acquiring using POWERCARDIX.
Verisoft supplied POWERCARDIX on UNIX with INFORMIX database, FAC 5624 access devices, THALES POS terminals and NCR ATMs.
FAC 5624 is installed at the main branch of TZBB in Sarajevo and linked via router over the established IP link to Istanbul, Turkey. Therefore, all local POS terminals are calling the local access point in Sarajevo with an average performance of 7 seconds transaction completion time after pressing the enter key after amount entry in a merchant location using local dial up telephone lines.
NCR ATMs provide full line of domestic and international cash dispensing services to VISA, MASTERCARD, ELECTRON, PLUS, MAESTRO and CIRRUS credit and debit cards.
Card production is done centrally at the high capacity embossing systems of Ziraat Bank in Istanbul but statement printing and mailing is made locally in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Verisoft also developed an Internet interface for checking the statements, limits and authorization over the web. This is also designed in a way to allow clients to open or close their cards to Internet e-commerce and allocate the limits for such transactions to improve security for e-commerce.
It is a very succesful and interesting case for operating a card system with the main server remotely located and front end devices extended to another country.
